In today's modern society bullying has been the direct cause of many teen suicides. Every time I turn on my computer I see an article about this very fact. I'd like to place all the blame on the actual bully but in this blog I will really approach this horrible trend with facts and opinions that may offend many. Truth is a must when dealing with these topics because a sugar coating never fixed anything!
It is said that 1 in 7 Students in Grades K-12 is either a bully or a victim of bullying.
56% of students have personally witnessed some type of bullying at school.
15% of all school absenteeism is directly related to fears of being bullied at school.71% of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school.
1 out of 20 students has seen a student with a gun at school.
282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month.

When looking at these statistics you have to ask yourself, does the sole responsibility belong to the bully or is there a place of origin? I truly don't believe it's fair to place all the blame on the bully. Life can become increasingly stressful, due to the fact that most families live paycheck to paycheck, parents are forced to spend more and more time away from there children, the downside to that is that many parents today allow the guilt from being absent To force them into over compensating with materialism, and spoiling your child is usually a common thread amongst bullies.
Family dinners have been replaced by no communication, and recreation has been destroyed by finger arthritis for the majority. Everywhere you look you see teens glued to cellphones, books are not cool and America's school system has been so dumbed down that today's average Junior high student doesn't even know how to sign there name.
We can't assume that the bully is just some kid who decided to be evil, every action is derived by a cause and effect. NO! a parent doesn't choose to give birth to an evil child, but being a parent takes a sharp eye, an impeccable ear, and a NO FRIEND ZONE policy, meaning being your child's friend is a MISTAKE, loving them means teaching them right from wrong, building an unbreakable self esteem, saying no when necessary, and saying yes when there is truly a benefit, having a strong bond is great, but a child will have millions of potential friends in the world, they only get one set of parents!
It's crucial to instill morals and values, to nurture a leaders character and to frown upon the followers disease.
No matter how busy you get a child doesn't choose to be born so it is your responsibility to make your place in every aspect of there life until they are old enough to soar on there own. Your kids have the right to be trusted and to have a modicum of independence and privacy but as the parent you have the right to invade those privilege's if you feel that the safety of your child or the safety of another's child is compromised! I don't condone violence or abuse but discipline is a must! If you force yourself to teach your child no tolerance for certain unacceptable behavior from infancy you will never have to raise a hand, a simple look will do!
DON'T YOU MUCH RATHER HAVE A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY THAT COMPLIMENTS YOUR PARENTING, OR A CHILD YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR?
Take a moment to google victims of bullying, once they succumb to the pain of being bullied there is no turning back, once a child takes there own life it is too late to have a talk! If your child is a bully and the cause of another child's pain or death, you can't tell a judge sorry he or she didn't mean it, or there usually a good kid. Seriously, why wait until the damage is done? It is not OK to turn a blind eye, just as you are careful how many days you miss at work in order that you don't get fired, it is 100 times more important to try your hardest to NEVER miss a beat with your own flesh and blood.
I'm not only blaming parent's for a child's actions, because there are so many variables such as
- Peer Pressure
- Absentee Fathers
- Poverty
- Emotional disorders
If every single one of us took responsibility for our actions this world would have less criminals!
Being a single parent isn't a recipe for disaster it is simply a hurdle, one that many have overcome! There is no manual written to be a perfect parent but there is a simple characteristic that is beneficial and almost all of us have it, it's called 'COMMON SENSE'
WITH ALL THAT SAID, I HOPE EVERY PARENT THAT READS THIS GETS THE PICTURE AND CHANGES THE WAY THEY THINK!
In 2002 a study was done in the state of Massachussettes 15 students In one year committed suicide due to being bullied. Thats just one state and One year. The increase of teenage suicide is frightening. It has become popular for teenagers to harrass eachother with words and terms that they should'nt even know. Usually bullies instill fear in many students so peer pressure creates clicks/groups of teens who hand pick victims to belittle, humiliate, and degrade. The new trend is cyber bullying and rumor mills started on social networks that by the way should be strictly and consistantly monitored by parents!!!! Unique teens don't do typical things, and good strong parents never ignore potential dangers!
Social networking should be limited and if I had it may way, teens under 17 would never be able to have access, if your not old enough to make adult decisions you should'nt be allowed to pretend your an adult.

Being cool is being original, having your own thoughts and making your own decisions makes you outstanding. It is NEVER ok to take out your anger on someone who never caused you harm and it is idiotic and COWARDLY to feel proud of hurting someone too afraid to fight you back. When your back is turned those who run with you usually mock your insecurities and everytime you feel untouchable remember there is always someone bigger and badder than you. Statistically most bullies grow up to be jailbirds, deadbeats, serial killers, uneducated, unemployed and most notably ALONE! Everytime you belittle someone you've made it public that the only way you are rellevant is when your trying to make someone else irrellevant. Being special is a quality we all have just as flaws and imperfection is a worldwide inheritance.
THE NEXT YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH OR RAISE FIST TO SOMEONE WEAKER THAN YOU REMIND YOURSELF OF ALL THESE POSSIBILITIES. BEING A BULLY IS EASILY THE STUPIDEST MOST COWARDLY WAY TO LIVE YOUR LIFE AND IT IS A CHOICE!

LET US ALL PRAY FOR ALL THE INNOCENT TEENS WHO COULD'NT TAKE IT ANOTHER MOMENT! MAY THEY REST PEACFULLY AND MAY WE HONOR THEM BY MAKING EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO PUSHED THEM TO THE LIMIT!
EVERY BULLY SHOULD DO JAIL TIME BEFORE THEY LAY ANOTHER CHILD TO REST!
