REAL MUSIC, REAL ART, MURDER INC..

The world we live in is built of two types of fans, the type that ride until the wheels have no rubber left and the ones that skip out when all that was needed is some air! I have loved music since birth, I am a fan of it's capacity, those who entertain there audience properly deserve to be remembered always in the same lights you cheered them under, even if you've seen the light dim, cheer!

Murder INC. 

In 1999 we had an abundance of great music, Jay z and DMX were killing it and due to Irv Gotti helping in there success, Russell Simmons gave Gotti his own label. What a great idea that was! 

In 1999 Murder INC. released there first album Venni Vetti Vecci  by the very talented Ja Rule whom took us all by storm with his raspy voice, his party vibe ( hood relate able) and his lyrical content! Every hood was chanting Holla Holla which was a smash hit, gave Murder INC. A platinum album making Ja Rule the most loved rapper and putting Murder INC. on the succession Map.

Some of the members that formed the very successful label were

Ja Rule, Ashanti, Lloyd, Chink Santana, Rah Digga, Cadillac Tah, Charlie Baltimore, Black Child, Vita, Free, Nicole Wray just to name a few.  

We know that Ja Rule and Ashanti were releasing hit after hit, Lloyd had the ladies going crazy when he dropped South side and killed us with his million dollar smile! Chink Santana, Cadillac Tah, and some of the others were behind the scenes but still very much known and respected for there contribution to music and to there label! Charlie Baltimore lyrically does not have many competitors and yet never got her moment to truly shine, but all us underground heads know she puts in that work! Vita could definitely hold her own as well. 

As I reflect back to that time when music was at its best, artist didn't just drop weak music, they lived in labs, they spent days and nights cooking to hit us with the most powerful gift, the gift of helping us deal with whatever hit us. Ashanti gave us that Mary J Blige vibe and made me a believer when I found out she was the real deal, she wrote her own joints, now that is real artistry. 

WHERE IS THAT TODAY?

We've had years of horrible rappers who decided there way of being unique was to become metro sexual, auto tunes, lord auto tunes came and did not go away! Does anyone write there own music anymore? 

I can honestly say that I don't listen too much of anything on the radio anymore, R&B my first love has become substance Less, in today's era we don't call woman Bitches, which was an issue then, now the world honors and reveres strippers and ratchetness and let's not forget the ridiculous Instagram famous.. Trap Queens and self proclaimed artist with $700 hundred dollar videos are now the it factor! We don't hear rappers talk about real things we could relate too we hear mumbles and sounds. It confuses me honestly, how did the world forget good music? 

I miss Ashanti's Foolish, I miss Ja Rule's It's Murder… We need Collabo's like Ja and Ashanti that have  us going crazy, we need real rappers who can freestyle if need be like Charlie Baltimore, and we most definitely need visionaries with an amazing ear to bring that all to the forefront Like Irv Gotti and Chris Gotti! We want real singers like LLoyd back who didn't just get a pass off his good looks and Videos with actual content befitting the musical illustration.

I want platinum to mean what it use too, hard work and true artistry, not just popularity because you can buy followers. I want musical beef to not change the level of an artist actual ability, everybody is hot and then not! No one stays on top forever and honestly that is irrelevant, what should matter most is what the individual artist brings to the table and what they should be loved for! 

I've never been one to follow trends or ride with whatever is popular for the moment, I'm defiantly a rebel against redundancy and familiarity! I love what moves me and what moves me has my loyalty forever! 

Murder INC. represents a musical era of true artistry, hunger and tenacity! Irv Gotti represents dedication, strength and intelligence not to mention he could probably sell a bikini to an Eskimo lol! All I am trying to say with this appreciation piece is that music is not the same. We need returns to the stage, we need comebacks so profound we can't contain ourselves! WE NEED SUBSTANCE! NOT JUST HOT BEATS THAT MASK THE WACK ENTERTAINMENT TODAY!
